- I’m a bulimia and binge eating specialist
- For several years I’ve recommended Kelly’s work to my clients
- Kelly’s book shows a step-by-step way out of the suffering
My bulimia and binge eating clients are all very different but they all share one thing in common – they’re all serial dieters.
They’ve been on every diet you can name. Sometimes the diet works for a short time but in every case they end up putting the weight back on – and more so. This has an inevitable devastating effect of their confidence and results in them becoming even more determined to stick to the next diet.
…Unfortunately, we all know how that story ends.
A large part of the bulimia and binge eating treatment is to debunk diet myths
Then diet myths are replaced with sound knowledge of how the body uses food. To help my clients I provide them with links to talented writers and communicators who can reinforce the message.
For several years now I’ve recommended Kelly’s work to my clients.I was thrilled when I heard Kelly had written a book that I could recommend to anybody who’s constantly on or off diets— Dr. Tony Henshall
She consistently comes up with great information in a really accessible and fun way. Kelly speaks from the heart and what she says is simply brilliant.
My clients just love her work.
I was absolutely thrilled when I heard Kelly had written a book that I could recommend to my bulimia and binge eating clients or to anybody who’s constantly on or off one diet or another.
Kelly’s book isn’t like any self-help book I’ve ever read
It’s very visually appealing—I just love the artwork, which lightens up the subject. And boy does it need ‘lightening up’. She also covers very complex ideas in ways that are easy for the reader to understand and more importantly to take on board—which also makes Kelly’s book an effective resource for a therapist.
What makes Kelly’s book truly different though, is it shows a step-by-step way out of the suffering.
I’ve used many of the techniques found in Kelly’s book with my clients and they work! In fact my bulimia and binge eating patients often quote things back to me from Kelly’s book when sharing the positive changes they’ve made.
So going back to the start…
We all know that diets don’t work. You would not be reading this now, if dieting worked. Every day I see bulimia and binge eating clients who have developed an eating disorder as a direct result of going on diets. Kelly herself spent 10 years of extreme dieting and exercising, that lead to bulimia and binge eating and she was always between 10 and 30 pounds overweight.
But if diets don’t work – what do you do?
Kelly’s book is for people who are at the same place she found herself; realizing that diets set you up to fail, but are at a loss of how to eat in a healthy way and be confident about food choices.
Kelly’s book will give you the food knowledge to cut through the confusion and contradictory advice that’s everywhere, so you can stop worrying about food so much and really enjoy eating again.
Just think, instead of wasting your time worrying about food and feeling guilty, you could spend that time doing something useful.
…Sounds like I loved the book!
Dr. Tony Henshall
How would you rate the book out of 5 stars?
Thank for sharing about Kelly’s book! I am so happy to see other health and wellness professionals sharing the importance of eliminating diet myths for our health and happiness. This sounds like a great read!
Yes, dieting is a recipe for weight gain!
The more “dieters” hear this from various sources the easier it will be for them to let go of all the misinformation diets ingrain and be open to healthy eating that unlocks their H 🙂 PPY weight.
Thanks for your comment Michelle! xoKelly
